Learn how to give and receive feedback when the stakes are high.

Participants will learn about the different types of feedback that exist in a business environment and practice their feedback skills with a partner while attempting to build a winning poker hand.

How to use this template

Activity instructions

  1. Download the template and review instructions.

  2. Ensure there is a deck of cards for every two participants.

  3. The facilitator will begin with a discussion of the different types of feedback in a business setting.

  4. Inform participants they will now practice their active listening and reframing skills by choosing a partner and forming pairs.

  5. Each pair should be given a deck of cards and each participant should draw a card.

  6. The person with the highest card value (ace being highest and 2 being lowest) is the storyteller and the person with the lowest card value is the listener.

  7. Participants should hang on to their cards as they will build a poker hand, with the winning hand earning a prize at the end of the session.
