micro1's Bali reset

For a fully remote company, the first time everyone's in the same room shouldn't be a conference center. It should be Bali.

micro1 is a remote-first company that just hit a major financial milestone. They wanted to celebrate it the right wayβ€”not with a Zoom toast, but with their entire global team in the same place, breathing the same air, finally.

Highlights

The room where it happens

micro1 didn't fly to Bali to decompress. They came to actually work. Two full days of coworking in the hotel's meeting space gave the team the focused time they'd been quietly starving for. BoomPop worked with the hotel to keep that room open after hoursβ€”so when ideas started flying over dinner and someone needed a whiteboard at 10pm, the door was unlocked. One attendee described watching the whole team locked in together as the most motivated they'd felt all year. A meeting room did that. Wild.

Beach Olympics: a warning

micro1 is competitive. Not "fun competitive." Competitive, competitive. What started as a team bonding activity turned into something closer to a sanctioned sporting event. The energy came from a group of people who'd been collaborating on screens for years and finally had a reason to go at each other in person. Nobody was phoning it in. The beach didn't stand a chance.

Bali as the agenda

White water rafting. A waterfall hike at sunrise. Temple visits. A full day with a Balinese guide living like a local. Yoga and a spa day to bring everyone back to earth. The itinerary wasn't a checklistβ€”it was a full immersion in a place that has a way of cracking people open. When your team is navigating rapids together or catching their breath at a waterfall, the small talk dissolves. What's left is more useful.

Team dinners, every night

Each evening ended around a table. Not a "structured networking opportunity." Dinner. Together. Every night. For a remote-first team meeting IRL for the first time, those dinners pulled weight. Conversations that started in the Kamaveda room carried into the night, and the relationships built over shared meals are the ones that make Slack threads easier for months after everyone flies home.

Snapshots

Ten countries. One Zoom-to-Bali jump cut. A team that took beach olympics personally, kept working after hours because the ideas wouldn't quit, and was still talking about the trip a week later.

"This was our company's first offsite bringing together 100+ people from over 10 countries, so there was a lot of internal pressure to ensure everything ran smoothly, it was an elevated experience, we stayed within budget, and still allowed the team to stay productive β€” and Emily handled it all flawlessly. Not a single detail slipped through the cracks. She gave us total confidence every step of the way. We couldn't be happier with how everything turned out."
